Walking the Camino de Santiago, Spain
WHEN: July 3rd-9th, 2019
WHERE: Start in Lugo, and end in Santiago de Compostella
“Self-realization is a solitary journey inward without end.”
The Camino de Santiago de Compostela is considered to be a special energy spot on earth.
Throughout history it has enticed countless pilgrims (including my mother-in-law’s beloved Shirley MacLaine) from all over the world to take up the trail.
This 1000-year-old pilgrimage road is a journey that crosses the landscape of the soul as well as the landscape of Galician history, literature, art, architecture, and Gin & Tonics.
Come revel in the opportunity to step back from your busy life for 6 days of quiet contemplation altered with giggles with like-minded women.
When was the last time you walked in nature, alone, thoughts completely uninterrupted? That, in itself is miraculous, right?
This is for anyone (especially mamas who usually carry big fat heavy bags for everyone else) wishing to walk carrying essentially nothing.
Our suitcases will be shipped to where we will be staying at night.
The accommodation will get progressively nicer as we walk… need carrots (or the delicious gastronomic Galician food and wine) to keep us going, right?
Actually on night 3, we will be staying at one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s favorite farmhouse called Parada das Bestas.
Expect a feast as our last dinner at one of my family’s favorite restaurant in Santiago.
Come be part of an ancient tradition celebrated in a fun way.
I have a hunch that this may be an unforgettable experience.
Come find your way.

I walked the Camino last summer for the first time and it was a breathtaking and life-changing adventure. I can’t wait to rediscover it with you.

TYPICALLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I HATE HIKING, THIS IS NOT FOR ME, RIGHT?
I hate hiking too! But this is different, I promise. The ever changing landscape. The little food joints with delicious tapas. The people you end up meeting. Something keeps you going.
Last year we saw heavily obese, very old, and wheelchair bound pilgrims. Anyone can do it.
The only thing in the way is you.
WHICH PART OF THE CAMINO ARE WE WALKING?
We will cover the last 100 km from Sarria to Santiago.
WHAT KIND OF SHOES DO YOU RECOMMEND WEARING?
You do NOT need to own hiking boots for this (unless you own a broken-into pair you love to walk in.) I personally recommend wearing sneakers with double layered socks (learned that the hard way.)
WHERE AND WHEN SHOULD WE LAND? TAKE OFF FROM?
Plan to land into ‘A Coruna’ on July 3rd (we’ll start walking on the 4th) and plan to fly out from ‘Santiago de Compostela’ on July 9th. Try to book a long layover in Barcelona or Madrid on your way to ‘A Coruna,’ unless you want to arrive without your suitcase (learned that the hard way too.)
Come experience the wonders of walking under the milky way…
